Mercat de Mercats is an outdoor fair that transforms the heart of Barcelona for four days into a showcase for the municipal markets, local products, and those who make it all possible: the market vendors. Born in 2010 as a temporary proposal driven by grup gsr in collaboration with the Institut de Mercats de Barcelona, the event quickly found its place as an annual fixture in the city’s calendar.
Its festive and educational format, with tasting spaces, showcookings, and free activities, has helped reinforce the role of markets as a central element of urban life. Over the years, Mercat de Mercats has grown, becoming a large-scale event that was led by grup gsr until 2019.
