“La tapa de l’any” is a yearly search for Catalonia’s best tapa. Restaurants that join the campaign get a chance to be selected and in the 2017 semi-finals, Catalonia’s 42 top restaurants competed to earn one of the 12 places in the final and have their chance at the “tapa de l’any” prize. grup gsr coordinates the contest, the jury and the event’s staging. This initiative by the Sitges Hospitality Guild and Estrella Damm is held at Hotel Melià in Sitges with a live audience of close to one thousand people. In 2017, it was chaired by theatre actor and director Quim Masferrer, with, since the previous year’s edition, the complicity and culinary experience of the chef Nandu Jubany.
