The Catalan Association of Sommeliers awards its annual prizes

Juli Soler, Josep Roca, Roger Viusà, Ferran Centelles, Toni Falgueras, Juan Muñoz and Agustí Torelló are just some of the sommeliers that attended last Sunday the dinner that the Catalan Association of Sommeliers celebrates annually. The dinner was headed by its President, Xavier Ayala, apart from 70 professional from the Catalan wine sector and members of the entity that enjoyed the second presentation organized by this association.
Hotel Palace was the reception point for important figures like Josep Maria Pelegrí, Councillor of Agriculture; Jordi Bort, General Manager of INCAVI; Valentí Roqueta, President of the Guarantee of Origin of Pla de Bages; Salvador Jorba, Delegate of Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona; Mariano Morera, Director of Serveis Territorials —Territorial Services— of the Department of Agriculture, Stockbreeding, Phishing, Food and Natural Environment in Barcelona; and Nan Ferreres, Director of CETT, the Catering and Tourism School, among others.
It was the seventh dinner of the association and the second presentation that it organizes. There were six prizes in total:
• Best Winery 2011: Abadal
• Best Oenologist 2011: Raúl Bobet
• Best Journalist 2011: Jordi Melendo
• Best Institution 2011: CETT, the Catering and Tourism School
• Honour Member: Josep Maria Pelegrí
• Special Trophy: Jordi Bort
The most emotional part of the meeting was the tribute to all the members with ten years or more having been part of the association. The event concluded with the presentation of the Honour Member prize, which was for the Councillor Pelegrí.
The Catalan Association of Sommeliers was set up in 1991 with the aim of informing and training its member through the tastings, courses and other activities to improve their professional possibilities. The association has more than 350 registered members.
