The Regulation Board for the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin (C.R.D.O. Ribeiro) presented in Barcelona the best wines from its wineries by staging a mass wine tasting session for over 150 professionals of the wine industry in just an afternoon. Representatives from 17 wineries, the President of the C.R.D.O. Ribeiro Mr. Luis Anxo, journalists, sommeliers, oenologists and sales directors all gathered yesterday at a market-space in the grand salon of the Condes de Barcelona Hotel, where the best Ribeiro’s were the star of the event.
"We are thrilled to be here. Last year we organised a presentation of our wines and it was a great success. This year it has been even better” Anxo stated during the tasting session that provided the opportunity for wine producers, journalists, distributors, sommeliers, oenologists and other wine professionals to interact.
The best wines were served with a luxury aperitif prepared by chef Antonio Saéz whose restaurant “Lasarte” has recently been awarded with its second Michelin star.
Prior to the event at the market-space, at which an array of Ribeiro varieties were served for tasting during the afternoon for over 150 wine professionals, a lunch was organised at the “Loidi” restaurant sponsored by Basque chef Martín Berasategui,
The menu included a cream of pea soup with raw tartar and egg, a plate of scallops and shrimps with bean shoots, a smoked “ventresca” tataki on a bed of black trumpet wild mushrooms, Iberian pork cheek on Parmentier and a cream of orange, raspberry mouse and cocoa ice-cream dessert, all matched with the best wines from the 17 wineries taking part in the presentation.
The white, red and rosé wines were the best match for a menu specially prepared for the occasion, allowing guests to discover the many types of Ribeiro, each of which unique in colour, aroma and tear.
