I Exhibition “Andalucía Sabor. Three cultures, two seas” (Seville)
THE EXHIBITION “THREE CULTURES, TWO SEAS” DRAWS TOGETHER THE BEST NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CHEFS IN THE CITY OF SEVILLE
The first edition of the International Food Industry Fair ANDALUCÍA SABOR was celebrated between 25th and 27th of September at the Conference and Exhibition Halls of Seville (Fibes) with the objective of becoming a worldwide showcase and a business opportunity for Andalusian food agricultural companies and their products to exhibit the high standards of Andalusian cuisine and, above all, its distinguishing Certified Quality.
Over the three days, professionals attended the “Three cultures, two seas” Exhibition, which took place at the same time in one of the exhibition hall’s auditoriums. Andalusian cuisine, a result of Christian, Arab and Jewish cultural heritage, was the cross cutting theme at this event, in which national restaurateurs took part such as Ferran Adrià (Roses), Juan Mari Arzak (San Sebastián), Andoni Luis Adúriz (Renteria), Carme Ruscalleda (Sant Pol de Mar), Quique Dacosta (Dénia), Joan Roca (Gerona), Pedro Subijana (San Sebastián), as well as international cuisine ambassadors such as Pierre Gagnaire (Paris).
“Andalucía Sabor. Three cultures, two seas”, - directed by a technical committee made up of Dani García, Rafa Morales, Kisko García, Ángel León, Pedro Robles, Reyes Mahedero, Roser Torras, Xavier Agulló, Jordi Parra and Javier Campos - was an example of crossed cultures and tolerance as well as a sensory show focusing on the topic of flavour.
The restaurateurs’’ presentations were combined with cooking shows based on confronting dishes, chef duels, presentations of new products and recipes, without forgetting traditional Andalusian cuisine, which was specially emphasised during the exhibition.
ANDALUCÍA SABOR, with a surface of almost 4,000 square metres held a hundred exhibitors representing almost 1,500 companies from the Andalusian agriculture and food industries, which turned into information centres for professionals from ten different EU and other countries, such as USA and Mexico. For this inauguration edition, the fair hosted two guests of honour: the Autonomous Community of Cantanbria and the protected denomination of origin “Ragusano Cheese”.
Within the programme addressed at exhibiting companies, the attendees took part in activities such as virgin olive oil and Iberian ham tastings, food and wine matching, ham cutting competitions, tapa and desert competitions and ham cutting courses.
Over the 25th, 26th and 27th September, the Andalusian food and agricultural sectors, industries and kitchen professionals conveyed to the world the high quality of Andalusian food, the ability of our businessmen to conquer markets and the exquisiteness of our dishes.
