The great bar of Barcelona, where thirteen of the best tapas pubs of the city get together, took place in the framework of the Barcelona World Race, in the Barceloneta district: a unique space, on a matchless location facing the Meditarranean Sea, to which everybody was invited from December the 18th until January the 6th.
Many important figures were the first to enjoy this great gastronomy party, among them the mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu; the president of Fira de Barcelona, José Luis Bonet; the manager of Fundació de la Navegació Oceànica de Barcelona, Andor Serra; the president of Càmera de Comerç de Barcelona, Miquel Valls, and the Barcelona sports councillor, Pere Alacober.
Located under a huge marquee of more than 4,000 square meters at Pla de Miquel Tarradell, thirteen pubs offered from 10 am to 10 pm their best tapas at high and low prices. Everything was perfectly combined with Damm beers and Gramona sparkling wines. The great bar of Barcelona, almost 60 meters long, was plenty of the tapas of some of the most iconic pubs in the city:
- Bar Cañete (Guillem Oliva) – Octopus and legumes “esquitxada”
- Bar del Pla (Jordi Peris) – Andalusian squids
- El Magatzem del Port (Javier Jovells) – “Fuet” and tomato tartar
